An account of a day at Santa Clara’s Kindergarten

I

Last week, as part of our community work, we visited Santa Clara’s Kindergarten in Villa San Pablo. We went there to play and have fun with the children of three, four and five years old.

This project started last year, when we carried out several activities to share some academic work with the children and raise funds for the Kindergarten.

When we arrived at the school, we split into three groups. Our group went to Kinder 5. They were delighted to see us again as we had met them last year. They were so happy to play with us once more.

The teachers had previously told us that the pupils were reading “La bruja Berta”. We had drawn some pictures, which we painted together, and talked about the story so that the children could extend their vocabulary. Then we went to the garden and had a lot of fun playing football and hide-and-seek.

We really enjoyed the visit. The children were very happy and excited to see us again. When we left, some of them cried, but we told them we would return soon.

We have grown fond of them and really enjoy being with them. They are good kids and kind to us. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Last week, we went to Santa Clara’s Kindergarten in Villa San Pablo. When we arrived, the Headmistress explained that they were trying to improve the children’s vocabulary by reading books and that we could help. Then, she divided us into three groups and sent our group to Kinder 4.

It was great! First we played indoors, we sang songs and coloured pictures we had brought on the story “El Brujito de Bulubú”. Next we participated in the flag ceremony and sang with them.

Whenever we visit the Kindergarten, the children become very excited and we are filled with joy. We are eager to go back to Santa Clara’s and play with the kids.

As one activity within our community service, we worked with the children from Santa Clara’s Kindergarten. We spent part of the morning playing and learning with them.

As soon as we arrived, we were separated into groups. Each group left for a different class. We interacted with Kinder 3.

When we walked into the classroom, we introduced ourselves to the children. Everybody was quiet. At the beginning the children were shy but, as time went by, they got closer and started talking. First, we gave them drawings to paint. Next we had a photo session; one of the groups took pictures of us all. Then, we went indoors to play with legos and toys. After putting everything away, we walked out of the classroom. They were really excited shouting and running all over the place. Finally, we went back to the classroom and played another game. They did not want us to leave.

The kids’ joy was the best present the Kindergarten gave us. We said goodbye and promised to go back again.
